Sacred Scarab
The ancient Egyptians revered the beetle and used it as amulets for protection, good luck, good fortune, and as seals for documents. Each person had their own personal information inscribed on the bottom of their personal scarab. Mummies have been found with the scarabs laid within the wrappings of their bodies, so they were something quite special.
The pendant is the same size as the other pendants (40x30mm), but it is thicker, set in the same mount. It is a hand-carved beetle with the cutest face! The necklace has other hand carved scarabs of yellow jade and red Breeciated jasper. The big scarab is Red Agate. All are carved front and back. The beads are Tiger Iron which is a mix of brown, red, green, yellow, and black, all different, but really sets off the whole necklace. It is my favorite set.
